About Us
The Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia
A just and equitable society where the human rights and dignity of women and girls are promoted, respected and gender equality achieved.
Who We Are
A network built for collective impact
Founded in 1998, the Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) serves as a central body for women-led organizations in Liberia. As a non-governmental organization, WONGOSOL has a diverse membership that includes Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), all of which operate in various sectors and thematic areas throughout the country.
The organization is dedicated to empowering women, ending violence against women and girls, advocating for their inclusion and representation, building capacity — especially in rural communities — and ensuring access to justice for women and youth.
Our Vision
A just and equitable society where the human rights and dignity of women and girls are promoted, respected, and where gender equality is achieved.
Our Mission
Committed to empowering women and girls, strengthening network members and promoting the freedom and human rights of women and girls and other marginalized groups.
Our Approach
How we make a difference
WONGOSOL advocates for gender-sensitive laws and policies at the national level, engaging with the National Legislature, the Executive, and Judiciary branches of the Liberian government.
Our advocacy is rooted in the issues identified by our network members, who work directly within communities to address the challenges faced by women and children. We lobby for the design and implementation of gender-sensitive plans, reforms, programs, and policies that contribute to peacebuilding, national recovery, and development.
