WONGOSOL is implementing and leading the Inclusion Cluster of the Legislative Monitoring Coalition of Liberia (LEMCOL) with funding support from the SIDA, the Embassy of Ireland, and the European Union through the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD).
The project contributes to strengthening democratic governance and legislative accountability in Liberia through systematic, evidence-based monitoring of the National Legislature. Under the Inclusion Cluster, WONGOSOL focuses on assessing and promoting the meaningful inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups in legislative processes and decision-making.
Through legislative monitoring, evidence generation, advocacy and engagement with lawmakers and other stakeholders, WONGOSOL and its cluster partners work to identify barriers to inclusive participation and advocate for legislative practices that are more representative, accessible and responsive to Liberia’s diverse population.
The initiative contributes to broader efforts to strengthen citizen participation, inclusive governance and accountability, while ensuring that the voices and priorities of women and marginalized groups are reflected in Liberia’s democratic and legislative processes.
This aligns well with NIMD’s broader objective in Liberia of promoting a more inclusive, participatory and accountable democracy, particularly by addressing the underrepresentation of women, youth and marginalized groups in political processes.
