WONGOSOL, in partnership with the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and its third-party partners, and in collaboration with the Office for the Establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L) and the Liberia Massacre Survivors Association (LIMASA), will host a series of community-level Memory and Reconciliation Sessions in Montserrado, Bomi and Bong Counties.
The sessions form part of the PeaceGen Liberia: The Generation for Peace Project, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Embassy of Ireland. The project seeks to strengthen the leadership and meaningful participation of women and young people in transitional justice, reconciliation and peacebuilding processes in Liberia.
The upcoming sessions will provide safe and inclusive spaces for survivors, women, youth, elders, traditional and community leaders, persons with disabilities and other stakeholders to reflect on Liberia’s civil conflict, share experiences and promote collective healing. Through intergenerational dialogue, participants will explore the importance of truth, justice, accountability, reconciliation and the prevention of future conflict.
The sessions are scheduled as follows:
Montserrado County: Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Soul Clinic Baptist Church, Kaymah Town, Paynesville
Bomi County: Friday, August 21, 2026
Bong County: Tuesday, August 25, 2026
The activity will also commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the signing of the Accra Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which officially ended Liberia’s civil conflict. Participants will identify shared peacebuilding priorities and commit to strengthening dialogue, peaceful coexistence and collaboration across generations.
Stories and perspectives shared during the sessions will be documented, with the informed consent of participants, to preserve community memories and contribute to future learning and national reconciliation efforts. Trauma-sensitive facilitation and psychosocial support will be available to safeguard participants’ dignity, privacy and well-being.
The PeaceGen Project is implemented by the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, WONGOSOL, the Female Journalists Association of Liberia, the Alliance for Peace, Justice and Human Rights, the National Young Women Political Council of Liberia and the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia.
